Having a debate about using mobile phones in classrooms was really interesting. I thought there would be more disagreement among different generations but I found that almost everyone agreed on the topic. So I do believe mobile phones are a huge distraction in the classroom because once you have the 'beep' noise or someone laughing at a small screen, no one will want to learn! Maybe iPads are a better choice as far as using technology in the classroom but only if the students are using them for educational purpose. The social networking is popular these days and having access to mobile phones or iPads, you will have access to any of the social networks. I think technology is good to be used in the classroom but there need to be guidelines as to how we use them because I do believe in the future technology will be bigger then it is now, there will be no such thing as books and pens in the classroom.
Mobile phones have a lot of things that may be useful in the classroom. The mobile phone could be used in any particular subject such as maths (calculators),english (voice recorder, internet), sports (digital camera), music (digtal camera,voice recorder), the list goes on!
So like I mentioned, if there are guidelines as to using the iPads and mobile phones in the classroom for educational purpose, maybe there won't be a lot of distraction but I think any technology will be some kind of distraction to the class when learning. Believe me, I have 4 year olds bring in their toy mobile phone and it's a huge distraction to the group who are willing to learn!

DeBono Thinking Hats
As far as I can remember, I have always used the thinking hats from primary to high school. I used to screw up my face everytime the teacher says, "Use the thinking hats." Why! As I got older, I learnt to understand how useful it is to have the thinking hats as a method that can be used to do a group brainstorming session. Even using it individually is awesome because the questions are there, you just need to use your mind to find the answer for each question relating to the topic that is being used. I find this ten times better then using the pros and cons table or using PMI. The DeBono has you thinking a lot and you record the thoughts and you see the outcome of the topic.
So would the DeBono Thinking Hats work for children of any age? Yes, I do believe it would because the children would be working together as a group! There would be many discussions among the group and there is no right or wrong answer because the children's thoughts are going to answer the question in one of the thinking hat, or more. I did some extra research on DeBono Thinking Hats and how teachers are teaching their class how to use the thinking hats and I notice there is no one way that everyone is doing it. Everyone is using the DeBono in a different way but still using the same colours and what it represent but not in the correct order as we used in wiki. Has anyone else notice this?
